UPDATE: Ukraine prolongs embargo on Russian goods imports till end-2017
(Adds background in last paragraph)
KIEV, Jul 6 (PRIME) -- The Ukrainian government signed on Wednesday prolongation of a ban on imports of a wide range of Russian products until December 31, 2017.
Economic Minister Stepan Kubiv said the measure is intended to ensure Ukraine’s national security and retaliate against an import embargo imposed by Russia earlier.
Kubiv also said the volume of the Russia–Ukraine trade fell by 42% in January–April.
The Ukrainian black list of Russian goods was introduced on January 1, 2016 and contains baked goods, meat, cheese, chocolate, beer, vodka, cigarettes with filter, dog and cat food and other products. In addition, the prohibition included equipment for railways and tramways, and diesel-electric locomotives.
